Singaporean authorities recently apprehended two men and a male teenager suspected of involvement in a robbery conspiracy. The incident, reported on November 18, 2023, occurred at Punggol Field and involved an exchange linked to crypto tokens for cash.
According to initial investigations, a 33-year-old individual received an offer on Telegram to trade crypto tokens for approximately $81,000 in cash. Upon meeting a 16-year-old at Punggol Field as instructed, the exchange turned into a robbery. Allegedly, the teenager seized the cash bag during the transaction, prompting the victim to give chase. During the pursuit, the teenager brandished a kitchen knife before being subdued by the victim with the help of two men and one woman.

Swift police intervention led to the recovery of the stolen cash. Furthermore, intensive efforts and the aid of surveillance footage identified two additional suspects involved in the crime. The authorities from Ang Mo Kio and Bedok Police Divisions apprehended a 33-year-old near Circuit Road and a 27-year-old along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9, both on the same day as the report.
The 33-year-old and the 16-year-old will face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery under the Penal Code's Sections 392 and 109 in court on November 20, 2023. Investigations regarding the 27-year-old individual are ongoing.
In light of this incident, authorities advise the public against carrying substantial sums of cash in public spaces. In the event of a robbery, individuals are urged to remain composed, take note of the perpetrator's appearance, and promptly alert law enforcement.
